- Coolant Direction: Always connect water to the lower port and exit from the upper port. This ensures the jacket is completely full, maximizing heat exchange.
- Vertical vs. Angled: For reflux (returning liquid to the flask), keep it vertical. For distillation (collecting product), mount it at a downward angle.
